It was another great day in Florida. We started with breakfast at the Skinny Rooster. Thanks to Kristi O. for the suggestion! Breakfast was outside with nice shade cover and a beautiful pond.
Upon return to the hotel, we took a guided tour to learn more about the history. The Belleview Biltmore first opened in January of 1897. Today it is the world's largest occupied wooden structure. We have also learned that it is closing on May 31 for renovations/restoration and will be closed for 2-3 years, they believe. While on the tour, we also learned that now President Obama and his staff stayed here at the hotel a few months prior to his presidential win. AND, he stayed just two doors down from where our room is!
Below is a photo of the tunnel system beneath the hotel. The tunnels were used by the servants as well as to move luggage to the freight elevator. Guests back in the day would often stay for four months at a time. Nanny's were brought with the families to watch the children and the nanny's were placed in the attic to sleep.
A library within the hotel.
More hotel pictures.

The rest of the day was spent at the beach. The sight you see below was our view for about three hours. Not to fear, Justin is not burnt!

Florida Day 1
Greetings from sunny Florida! We arrived to the airport in Clearwater, checked in with Hertz and got our rental car. It really suits us quite well as we are always joking that we are "elders" trapped in 30-something bodies. You guessed it, we got a Lincoln Towncar! It is quite roomy and came with a GPS system, so we're not complaining!
We are staying at the Belleview Biltmore, a very historic hotel (we've seen lots of white hair...).

For lunch today, we each ordered a plate. I'll let you go ahead and guess who had what...
After a leisurely day around the pool, we drove down the main beach rode of Clearwater and enjoyed walking on a pier, going through a few shops and eating dinner. It's been a good, restful first day. Stay tuned!

Heel Liners for the Ladies
Hi ladies! Have you ever had a pair of heels or other shoes that flipped off your feet when you walked? Even though you went down a half a shoe size, they still flipped off? Well, I did and I recently came across a product that stopped the flipping! Check these out, they are awesome!

Jon Has Gone HOME
With heavy hearts, we share that Justin's friend, Jon Schroeder, has passed away after his battle with ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). We rejoice that he is in heaven with our loving Father after his very difficult battle. Please join us in lifting his wife Stacie and their three children in prayer. You can read about his story here.

Weekend in MN
We enjoyed a weekend in a hotel in MN with Justin's family. We stayed at a hotel with an indoor "safari waterpark." Fun was had by the kiddos as well as the adults! Aside from water fun, we enjoyed eating, the gals enjoyed shopping at a nearby outlet center and the guys enjoyed a trip to a farm show, and hanging out together watching the NCAA tourney.

Baby Ty got to hang with the gals for shopping. Maybe next time he can check out the farm show!

Signs of Spring
There are signs of spring around our acreage. We enjoyed time outside this weekend taking it all in.
Last fall, we planted around 100 bulbs in the backyard. The first sign of life is coming up! I hope to have another photo to share of a full blown flower garden...my fingers are crossed!
We decided to be a coupla' crazies and built a fire in the firepit...on March 13! A little chilly, but a beautiful evening.
